The IASTI® Ground Operations Pathway is a new education and training route for those who aspire a career as cross-trained Flight Dispatcher. The pathway has been created with industry for the industry! The IASTI® Ground Operations Pathway prepares learners for their future as a Flight Dispatcher, cross-trained to also perform in different roles of Ground Operations such as Load Control Officer, Airfield Operations Officer, Passenger Service Agent, Ramp Agent and others. This Pathway combines an accredited qualification with a deeper industry knowledge base, practical experience, industry specific non-technical skills including confidence building and leadership management, as well as industry led theoretical knowledge topics required for a Flight Dispatcher.

The Ground Operations Pathway has been co-designed collaboratively with industry partners and it is co-delivered to ensure that the industry standards, requirements, and integration are maintained. Tech-Enabled learning will be embedded to promote accelerated learning which will allow it to be an immersive and innovative experience. 

Ground Pathway Specifics 

At the start of the course, the Ground Operations students will study a combined pathway with the Pilot and Engineer students. This ensures that all common elements are understood so that when in the working environment, the Flight Dispatcher student will have a foundation understanding of all three key roles involved in dispatching an aircraft.  

After the combined section of the pathway,

the next phase of the course will cover industry

standard fundamentals where students learn IASTI®

essential industry information.  

IASTI® Industry Standard Fundamentals:

  • The UK Aviation Industry 

  • Health and Safety in the Aviation Industry

  • Security in the Aviation Industry 

  • Aviation Geography and Terminology 

  • Airline and Airport Economics 

  • Environmental Impacts of Aviation. 

Following the IASTI Industry Standard

Fundamentals, the Ground Operations students

will then study all relevant modules in order to

pass the Level 3 Aviation Operations qualification.

This will cover theoretical knowledge and practical

workshops using state of the art Tech Enabled

Learning where applicable.

Following the Level 3 qualification, the Flight Dispatch students will have the opportunity to carry out a 12 weeks Ground Foundation course, delivered by one our OEM partners, which ensures that the future Flight Dispatchers are fully prepared for industry or transition to Launch1.

On completion of Launch2 by IASTI® the Ground Operations student will be able to progress to Launch 1 or enter the industry as a Flight Dispatcher for an airline, airport or ground handling company, working in aircraft operations, or alternatively, start a career for one of these organisations as a Load Control Officer, Airfield Operations Officer, Passenger Service Agent, Ramp Agent.
